Prevention Program Coordinator – Job description
Job Summary: We are looking to add a team member who is passionate about facilitating education and training in our community to strategically raise awareness around child abuse prevention and intervention. The Prevention Coordinator will be responsible for organizing, supporting and facilitating prevention efforts. This position will also be cross trained in other areas of PCA to share in the overall collaboration of team members. This position reports to the Child and Family Service Director.
Part-Time, Flexible Schedule
Fluctuating Work Week (depending on program)
Hours Per Week: 25-32
Pay Range: $17-$22 an hour
Potential to increase hours and pay for the right candidate
Qualifications:
- Adherence to Criminal History Background check clearance
- Some college education or experience is preferred in the related fields of social work, psychology, and education
- Computer literacy and working knowledge of word-processing, spreadsheet, database and project management software
- Reliable transportation
- An understanding of child development

- Demonstrate knowledge of available community resources
- Demonstrates effective written and verbal communication skills

- Passion for education, and presenting educational curriculums to large groups (students or children)
- Demonstrate efficiency in problem solving and critical thinking
- Excellent facilitation and or public speaking skills. Experience in facilitation within various group sizes or event management
- Experience with providing staff supervision and support to achieve individual and programming goals
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively with other staff
- Demonstrates a knowledge or commitment to work with underserved population or marginalized populations
- Demonstrates cultural competence, and the ability to work within a diverse and multicultural work environment
- Passion for continued education and growth mindset
- Foster a sense of belonging and ensure an environment where fellow employees, community partners, and students feel respected and valued for their unique traits and contributions
Essential Job Functions:
Kids Have Rights (August-February)
- Become a trained facilitator in prevention education trainings for adults and youth
- Schedule, prepare and facilitate presentation in Newaygo and Lake County
- Work with community partners and facilitate prevention education training including but not limited to law enforcement, faith-based communities, corporations, daycare centers and preschools, school systems, non-profit agencies, cultural organizations, government agencies, parents/caregivers
- Maintain supplies and materials for prevention programs, including overseeing prevention volunteers
- Assist with data collection and information tracking
- Attend community events and collaborations as needed
- Assist with coordinating activities for Child Abuse Prevention Month
Summer Magic (March-August)
- Hire staffing needs for 3 site locations
- Staff Development, Training, and Staff Performance Evaluations
- Oversee operation of programming
- Facilitate weekly director meetings
- Manage resources, monies, paperwork, and attendance
- Ordering supplies for programming
- Scheduling educational presentations and creating a monthly calendar
- Creating registration platform and organize registrants
- Weekly newsletter for programming participants
- Assist with data collection and information tracking
- Grant follow-up reporting with grant writer
Child Advocacy Center (Ongoing cross–training)
- This position will be cross trained into a support role with PCA’s Evergreen Children’s Advocacy Center. To ensure that we are able to sustain this program in case of leave or employee absence, our team members ensure they have an understanding of other roles within the agency.

- Light building maintenance and cleaning
- Answering phones
- Event Set up / Take down
- Care Closet Appointments
- Advocacy for all clients entering PCA
- Other tasks not listed, but supports PCA’s mission, vision and culture
